Former United States Attorney, Tara K. McGrath, is a partner at the international law firm Morrison & Foerster. She advises clients navigating regulatory scrutiny, enforcement risk, and high-stakes investigations, drawing on a perspective that bridges enforcement, policy, and environmental leadership.
Before joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. McGrath spent decades in federal service, including at the U.S. Department of Justice, handling complex investigations and prosecutions. Most recently, she served as the chief federal law enforcement official in the Southern District of California, prioritizing public safety and enforcement of environmental and natural resource laws. Under Ms. McGrath’s leadership, the Department secured the nation’s first criminal conviction for importation of greenhouse gases (HFCs) into the United States under the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act of 2020 (AIM Act).
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Ms. McGrath brings deep experience in government policy, enforcement, and federal prosecution, complemented by a longstanding commitment to conservation. She is trained by The Climate Reality Project and, early in her career, served as a regional director for the Coastal Conservation League, championing resource management, water quality protection, and sustainable development along the Atlantic coast.
