Tonya Muse, FASAE, CAE is an executive search consultant in Heidrick & Struggles’ Washington, D.C. office. She is a member of the Social Impact and CEO & Board of Directors practices and co-leads the Association sector. Tonya has an extensive background in association leadership initiatives, executive search, CEO succession, and board effectiveness. She joined Heidrick & Struggles from another executive search firm.
Previously, Tonya was the executive director of the Council of Manufacturing Associations at the National Association of Manufacturers. She oversaw the leadership, direction, and management of more than 250 trade association members. She engaged CMA members on manufacturing policy priorities to broaden and advance the NAM’s advocacy efforts.
Before that, Tonya was director of membership for the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, senior vice president of the Envelope Manufacturers Association, and executive director of the EMA Foundation for Paper-Based Communications, where she spent 17 years.
Tonya is a certified association executive with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She is an ASAE Fellow, the highest designation given to association executives.
Tonya serves on the board of governors of the Bryce Harlow Foundation. And is on the board of directors for the National Capital Area Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
