CEO, Co-Founder
Intersect
Sheldon Kimber is the CEO and Founder of Intersect, which was acquired by Google in March 2026. He has spent his career as a builder, leader, and innovator at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and financial markets, building multiple startups into some of the largest companies in their respective industries.
As CEO and Founder of Intersect, Sheldon has defined a unique vision for the future of the energy sector with proven innovation in financing, supply chain, and a differentiated growth strategy at the intersection of electrification and digitalization. Under his leadership, Intersect grew into one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, developing, building, and operating $15 billion in infrastructure, with 10.8 GW in construction or operation by late 2028, including the world’s largest battery, before being acquired. In early 2026, Google acquired Intersect for $4.75 billion and continues to operate as an independent subsidiary.
Prior to founding Intersect, Sheldon served as Chief Operating Officer at Recurrent Energy, helping to build the company from an early-stage startup to a market leader in North America. During his tenure, Recurrent developed over 2 GW of electric generation across the U.S. and Canada.
He previously spent five years at Calpine, one of the nation’s largest power generation companies, working on the finance and development of gas-fired power projects. He has also worked as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs and as a strategy consultant at Accenture, specializing in power-price forecasting and asset valuation for utility clients.
Sheldon holds a BA in Economics from Kenyon College and an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where he spent 10 years teaching Project Finance in the full-time MBA program. He is also an active member of several nonprofit boards and an angel investor and advisor in the clean energy sector.
Sheldon lives in Truckee with his family, where he coaches youth basketball and dreams of project financing the first space-based energy projects.
