Michael Ernst is currently Executive Director of Renewable Energy and Transmission for American Integrated Resources. He has been an energy attorney for over 30 years, including Counsel to the Mass. Legislature's Joint Committee on Energy, General Counsel of the Mass. Department of Public Utilities, Vice President of TransEnergie U.S., and Director of Regulatory Affairs at Tetra Tech. Mr. Ernst helped lead the offshore wind team at Tetra Tech for nearly 10 years supporting Bluewater Wind in Delaware, New Jersey, New York and N. Carolina; Deepwater Wind in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York, Statoil in Maine, and Dominion in Virginia. He supported the permitting of the Block Island Wind Farm and Vineyard Wind 1. Mr. Ernst was a policy lead for 3 annual U.S. Department of Energy-funded studies analyzing offshore wind markets and identifying state and federal incentives for development of offshore wind in the U.S. He also helped draft and edit the 2015 U.S. Department of Energy Wind Vision Report. Mr. Ernst met with German offshore wind officials and spoke at the annual HUSUM WIND conference in 2023. He served as environmental lead on the Independent Evaluator team for offshore wind bids to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 2023 and 2024 and as the Director of Permitting and Environmental Management at New York Transco from 2019 to 2025 for 69 miles of new overhead transmission to carry new wind and solar energy from upstate NY.
